In Russia, they decided to develop the 6G communication standard, bypassing 5G
Miscellaneous / / July 27, 2022
Commercial networks of the 5G generation have not yet been launched in Russia, but Skoltech and Research Institute of Radio (FSBI NIIR) is preparing a project to develop domestic sixth-generation communication equipment (6G). About it writes "Kommersant".
The source of the publication reports that more than 30 billion rubles are requested from the budget for this project. It is assumed that equipment for 6G networks can be created by 2025.
The work will include the development of technology from the level of prototypes to production, questions component base, as well as the creation of a regulatory framework and research on electromagnetic safety new networks.
6G is expected to operate in the 95 GHz to 3 THz band. True, the terahertz range has not yet been allocated to anyone, for any task. βIt has not been studied either in terms of data transmission or in terms of human security,β one of the sources said.
Now most operators around the world are building networks on equipment that supports the 5G standard. But in Russia there are no such ones in commercial operation, since operators cannot receive the necessary frequencies in the 3.4-3.8 GHz range - they are occupied by special services.
Mobile operators in Russia believe that in the current conditions lack of equipment it is worth maintaining the existing 4G standard and focusing on the gradual expansion of its frequency bands.
