Astronomers have found two new large planets similar to Jupiter

Scientists from Tel Aviv University using the Gaia space telescope discovered in a distant corner of the galaxy, two new planets are quite large. They are comparable in size to Jupiter.
The telescope recorded objects during its first mission several years ago. But on space maps, light "gaps" can occur - when one planet temporarily eclipses another. That is why scientists have not yet seen new objects. Now researchers have used the new possibilities of artificial intelligence to carefully study the archives.
The find was confirmed using the Large Binocular Telescope in Arizona. This is one of the most advanced telescopes on Earth.
The planets were named Gaia-1b and Gaia-2b. They have been described as "hot Jupiters" due to their proximity to their host stars. Each of the planets circles its star in four days.
Scientists assume that there is no life on the new planets, but they hope that with the help of artificial intelligence they can get new data about the Galaxy from the Gaia archives.
According to one of the co-authors of the discovery, Shei Zucker of Tel Aviv University, astronomers have 40 more potential planet candidates. Now they have to be confirmed with other studies.
Gaia (originally from the Global Astrometric Interferometer for Astrophysics) is a space telescope of the European Space Agency (on the cover of the article). Its main task is to make a detailed map of the distribution of stars in our Galaxy. It was launched into orbit in December 2013.
