Nothing Phone (1) is officially presented: a stylish mid-ranger with a transparent cover

Nothing by Carl Pei (OnePlus co-founder), which introduced its first and so far only product a year earlier ear (1), showed the first smartphone with a modest name Phone (1). All the details about the device leaked to the Web a few days before the presentation, but now the company has officially confirmed them. Spoiler: insiders did not guess only the additional camera module.

The main feature of the device is the transparent back cover. Thanks to it, several illuminated elements are visible on the rear panel at once. They are synchronized with standard ringtones, you can also set separate lighting schemes for different contacts. This will allow you to understand who is calling when the smartphone is screen down in silent mode.

The smartphone runs on Android 12 with the Nothing OS shell, which was introduced back in April. According to the developers, this launcher allows you to place more folders, icons and widgets on the screen than the standard Android assembly. Widgets available include the NFT Album, which allows you to display a collection of images right on your screen.

The novelty is equipped with a 6.55-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The manufacturer used a flexible display, which made it possible to make frames of the same thickness: this made it more expensive, but allowed the “chin” to be curved and made it thin. Responsible for performance is the mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ processor, supplemented by 8 or 12 GB of RAM, depending on the modification.

The main camera is dual: the main Sony IMX766 module at 50 megapixels plus an additional wide-angle Samsung GN1 sensor at 50 megapixels with a viewing angle of 114 °. During video recording, a backlight that simulates a ring lamp is activated on the back panel. A 16 MP selfie camera is hidden in a hole in the display, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is located under the screen.

The 4,500mAh battery supports 33W fast charging and takes just over an hour to fully charge. It also supports 15W wireless charging and 5MP reverse charging. The power adapter is not included in the package.

Nothing Phone (1) will go on sale on July 21 in black and white, prices are already known:

• 8 + 128 GB - 399 pounds (≈27,700 rubles);
• 8 + 256 GB - 449 pounds (≈31,200 rubles);
• 12 + 256 GB - 499 pounds (≈34,700 rubles).

The top version will go on sale later than the rest, the exact date is not reported.
