20 little-known series that everyone should see. Lifehacker Readers' Choice

Recently we carried out a poll on the topic of series, absolutely undeservedly deprived of the attention of the audience. The comments suggested a lot of projects in a variety of genres. We made a selection of interesting options from them, which were appreciated by readers.

1. Firefly

A sci-fi space western series. In the center of the plot is the crew of the Serenity ship, which trades in petty crimes and smuggling. On the basis of this show in 2005, the full-length film “Mission Serenity” was released, which supplemented its events.

The series is about a mysterious room and hundreds of everyday items from it that have supernatural properties. They are hunted by many rich people, adepts and sects, but the key accidentally falls into the hands of detective Joe Miller, who has to uncover the secret of this room.

4. Sons of Anarchy

Drama about a club of bikers who try to maintain order in a small California town by protecting their criminal business. One of the main roles was played by Charlie Hunnam (Gentlemen, King Arthur of the Sword) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy).

5. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell

An alternate 19th century England where two gentlemen, Gilbert Norrell and Jonathan Strange, resurrect a once-lost magic. The price of this acquisition is too high for both of them. The series is based on the novel Suzanne Clarke, Hugo Award winner.

6. Night manager

A former British soldier turned European hotel night manager is recruited by intelligence agents. He must infiltrate the international arms trade network and ingratiate himself with its head. The main roles were played Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie.

7. eighth sense

Eight strangers from different parts of the world suddenly discover a mental and emotional connection with each other. They can communicate at a distance, gain each other's knowledge and skills, applying them in their lives. Some are beginning to see such superhumans as a threat. The series was directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski.

8. Maniac

10. Discovery of witches

11. Aliens from the past

Norwegian TV series about the sudden appearance in the modern world of people from the past, including from the Stone Age and middle ages. Science fiction about a research institute called The Loop. It was created to reveal the secrets of the universe and is located under a small town. Because of this neighborhood, absolutely fantastic events often occur with local residents, and sometimes time itself changes.

13. Alice in the Borderlands

Japanese Netflix series about the otherworldly Tokyo. The main characters are forced to participate in dangerous games on survival, where the winners receive a "visa" that extends their lives. Refusal to participate or an attempt to escape equates to a loss followed by death.

14. Gangs of London

• Drama, crime, action.
• Duration: 2 seasons.

The plot focuses on the confrontation of criminal gangs in modern London. The murder of the head of one of the gangs breaks the delicate balance of power and starts a real massacre, where some take revenge, while others look for ways to increase their influence. Gareth Evans, best known for The Raid, is working on the series.

15. Cleaning woman. The story of a single mother

A drama about a young mother who leaves her husband with her two-year-old daughter and tries to settle in a new place. She works hard and does everything in good faith, but this is not enough for a better life. Hideo Kojima named this series is one of the best in 2021.

16. In her eyes

Psychological thriller with elements of fantasy and absolutely unexpected ending. The plot revolves around a single mother who starts an affair with her new boss and then meets his wife. The closer she gets to know them, the more shocking details surface.

17. chestnut man

Danish detective thriller about the investigation of mysterious murders, at the site of which chestnut figures are found. Based on this evidence, the police are trying to find a killer who may be involved in the disappearance of the child of a famous politician.

18. Tokyo Police

Series based on real history, which formed the basis of a book by journalist Jake Edelstein about the struggle of the Japanese Metropolitan Police against yakuza gangs in the 1990s. The main roles were played by Ansel Elgort, known for the film "Baby Driver", and Ken Watanabe ("The Last Samurai", "Inception").

19. Hornets

Violent series with elements horror. In the center of the plot is the women's school football team, whose plane crashed in the dense forests. Desperate and no longer hoping to wait for rescuers, the athletes slowly turn into scattered clans of cannibals.

20. Invincible

Animated series about superheroes in the style of "Boys- the same cynical, straightforward and cruel. The plot revolves around teenager Mark Grayson - the son of the most powerful superhero on Earth. He has to acquire superpowers and learn how to manage them.
