How we relax in 2023: a calendar of weekends and holidays

Sunday weekends of January 1 and 8 have been moved to February 24 and May 8, respectively.
Ministry of Labor toldwhen the Russians will rest in 2023. According to the new calendar, we are waiting for eight public holidays in January, four days off in a row in February and May holidays with two short working weeks.
As a result, in 2023 we will rest on holidays like this:
- from 1 to 8 January;
- February 23 and 24;
- March 8;
- The 1 of May;
- May 8 and 9;
- 12 June;
- November 6th.
Who and why postpones the weekend
In Russia establishedLabor Code of the Russian Federation, article 112 "Non-working holidays" 14 non-working holidays:
- January 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 - New Year holidays;
- January 7 - Christmas;
- February 23 - Defender of the Fatherland Day;
- March 8 - International Women's Day;
- May 1 - Spring and Labor Day;
- May 9 - Victory Day;
- June 12 - Day of Russia;
- November 4 is National Unity Day.
By law, if a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the day off from that day is transferred to the next working day. An exception is made for New Year and Christmas holidays. Weekends from these days, the government of the Russian Federation distributes at its discretion.
Thus, the weekend of January 1 (Sunday) and January 8 (Sunday), coinciding with non-working holidays, was moved to February 24 and May 8, respectively.
