WhatsApp announces new features for groups

WhatsApp group chats have received a lot of improvements lately: the maximum number of participants increased to 512, added reactions to posts, finalized voice messages and gave administrators more powers. But managing sprawling chats and group calls can still be tricky, so the messenger announced three new features at once:

• Any user will be able to mute the microphone of another participant in a group call.
• You can now write a private message to a group member without returning to the general chat list.
• There is now an indicator that a new user has joined the call, so you no longer have to manually refresh the participant list to make sure everything is in place.

Innovations have already begun to unfold and should become available to all users in the coming days. We are talking about a stable build of the messenger: a beta is not needed.
