The WWDC conference usually does without new devices, but this year was an exception to the rule - as part of this event Apple showed a new MacBook Air with a notch that houses a 1080p camera, and a MacBook Pro in the old one design.
Macbook Air
The laptop received a solid metal case (11.3 mm.). Due to the redesigned chassis and narrower display bezels, it is 21% more compact than the previous model. At the same time, the screen is even slightly larger - 13.6 inches with a brightness of up to 500 nits (25% brighter than its predecessor).
The case has two Thunderbolt connectors and a 3.5 mm audio port for headphones. The keyboard now has a row of function keys and a fingerprint scanner.
The heart of the device is the new Silicon M2 chip, developed using a 5nm process technology. It is 18% faster than M1. And graphics performance increased by 25-35%. There is no active cooling.
Like the latest Pro-models, the novelty received an updated MagSafe charging. In terms of autonomy, the manufacturer promises up to 18 hours of video viewing. The charging adapter is now two USB-C ports. In 30 minutes, 50% of the charge is replenished.
The laptop also received 4 speakers with support for Dolby Atmos surround sound and three microphones for video conferencing.
The price of the new MacBook Air starts at $1,199.
Macbook Pro
Following the new Air model, Apple showed an updated MacBook Pro with the same M2 chip. It has the same design as the first version with the M1 - without the notch and with fairly wide screen bezels.
It features a Retina display with up to 500 nits of brightness, the familiar Magic Keyboard with Touch Bar, and studio-quality microphones. The model will be available with 24GB of combined storage and storage up to 2TB.
Apple promises 20 hours of battery life. Wi-Fi 6 support and a powerful active cooling system are also announced.
The MacBook Pro starts at $1,299.
