Samsung plans to launch a foldable Galaxy A
Miscellaneous / / June 06, 2022
As Samsung prepares the release of the fourth generation of the Z Flip and Z Fold foldable smartphones, the company seems to be looking for ways to further increase sales of devices in this category. One option is to release a budget model.
By data leaker chunvn8888, Samsung is working on a cheaper foldable smartphone that will be part of the Galaxy A line. However, you should not expect an early release: it is supposed to be announced in 2024 or 2025.
Given that the production of foldable smartphones is gradually becoming cheaper, in a couple of years Samsung will be able to show the first affordable gadget of this type. It's not yet clear what form factor it will be: clamshell phones like the Z Flip or flip phones like the Z Fold.
At the same time, the demand for foldable smartphones is growing: according to report Display Supply Chain Consultants, in the first quarter of 2022, sales were up 571% year-over-year. Interestingly, 90% of sales in this period come from just three devices: Galaxy Z Flip 3, Z Fold 3 and Huawei P50 Pocket. Thus, at the time of the last assessment, Samsung occupies 74% of the market - and clearly is not going to stop there.
