Spam blocking system launched in Russia
Miscellaneous / / June 01, 2022
Unlike existing analogues, it does not require installing additional programs or changing settings: everything will happen automatically at the level of telecom operators.
In Russia, a general system for blocking spam calls and SMS has been launched. You can complain about advertising on the websites of the FAS and the operators MTS, Megafon and Tele2. In the near future, other operators will also connect to the service, including Beeline. By data Izvestia, the FAS has already received many complaints about spam, including from abroad using spoof numbers.
To send a complaint, you will need to indicate in the questionnaire the full name, phone numbers of the recipient and sender, as well as the content and time of receipt of the call or message. Soon the user will receive confirmation from the operator, and the number from which the spam came will be blocked within 72 hours by all companies connected to the system.
It is noted that the risk of erroneous blocking is minimal, since operators will conduct additional checks, taking into account the number of hits and other parameters. Complaints will be distributed among the operators, depending on whose network the attempts were detected spam, while the operators will be able to exchange data and complaints among themselves for more efficient work.
Experts note that the new service does not solve the problem of constantly changing numbers of scammers and spammers. In addition, complaining about a number in a couple of touches, as implemented in other anti-spam systems, will not work, and the need to fill out questionnaires will repel many users.
