Papyrus from the "Book of the Dead" and 250 ancient sarcophagi found in Egypt

A large-scale find that will join the ranks of the exhibits of the Great Egyptian Museum.
Archaeologists in Egypt announced about the discovery in the necropolis of Saqqara of the burial of ancient artifacts, including mummies and bronze statues, whose age is 2,500 years.
The secretary-general of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziri, said the find included 250 painted sarcophagi with well-preserved mummies inside.
In one of the wooden sarcophagi, a completely preserved sealed papyrus was found for the first time. Vaziri believes that it contains the chapters of the Book of Gates and the Book of the Dead. Now the document has been transferred to the museum for further study.
Also during the excavations were found tools used for rituals, and 150 bronze statues of Egyptian deities dating back to the late period of Ancient Egypt (about 500 BC). BC.). Many are made in the image of Anubis, Amun, Min, Osiris and Isis.
Special attention of scientists was attracted by a cache with finds from the New Kingdom era dating back to the 15th century BC. It contained a bronze mirror, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and anklets.
All finds after a detailed analysis will go to the Great Egyptian Museum, which is being built next to the Great Pyramids of Giza and is due to open at the end of this year.
The Egyptian government hopes the wave of such archaeological discoveries will help revive the tourism industry in the region. The country's economy over the past decade has been hit hard by political chaos and the coronavirus pandemic, so the influx of people from abroad is expected more than ever.
