Apple is preparing a compact TV box

Not only the size will decrease, but also the price.
According to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to release a new TV box that is much more compact and budget-friendly compared to current Apple TV models.
In terms of price and size, it will compete with the Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV and Roku set-top boxes. The development of a TV dongle from Apple was first reported back in 2018. It was supposed to offer users access to Apple TV + at an attractive cost, but in 2021 it became known that the development was abandoned in order not to harm the company's image with the release of an inexpensive and probably lower quality device.
Now, the idea is back in the works – and, according to Kuo, the release of the new version of Apple TV is expected in the second half of 2022. Its cost has not been specified, but it will clearly be lower than the Apple TV HD, which remains on sale at a price of $149. The device may go on sale as Apple TV mini or Apple TV SE if the company adheres to existing naming principles.
