How to Adjust Spacing in Word
Miscellaneous / / May 06, 2022
Use these settings to make your document easier to read.
The Microsoft word processor uses several types of spacing: line spacing, paragraph spacing, and letter spacing.
Most often, users adjust line spacing - the distance from a line to a line on a page. Its value depends on the font type. By default, Word is set to single spacing, equal to the height of the largest character in the font, but it can also be one and a half, double, and more. The greater the line spacing, the easier the visual perception of the document. And the smaller, the more text fits on the page.
Less commonly, change the inter-paragraph spacing, which determines the distance between blocks of text. It serves not only to improve readability, but also to comply with the requirements for the design of certain documents.
You can also change the letter spacing. As the name implies, this is the distance between the characters of the text. To highlight fragments and visual design, it can be made larger (sparse) or smaller (densified). The change is indicated in points (pt) relative to the standard interval.
