Miscellaneous / / May 01, 2022
Take a break before the session, maintain good relationships with your classmates, and don't forget to rest.
«Let me know” is a rubric for the stories of our readers. Every week we launch a survey on a hot topic and look forward to your comments. This time you shared with us tips on how to combine work and study.
1. Try to find a job related to your specialty
If you are lucky and the specialty chosen at the university was to your liking, then the best solution would be to find a vacancy related to it.
As you search, you may notice that other positions offer more money. And this will put you in a difficult situation: what is better - a highly paid part-time job that has nothing to do with your area of \u200b\u200binterest, or a low-paid internship, but in a dream company?
Of course, everything will depend on your priorities at a particular moment. But the experience of students suggests that working in a profession related to studies is, in some ways, easier. This will help to acquire useful contacts in the professional field and gain the necessary experience.
And it will also be easier for you to negotiate with teachers about the schedule of visits and it will be more interesting to complete practical tasks based on the knowledge gained in a real company.
Vyacheslav Dryuchin
iOS developer. Works from the 2nd year of university.
My work was indirectly related to the specialty. Many teachers knew about this. Therefore, they made me concessions in couples and turned a blind eye to absenteeism. After all, I am “not a quitter, but a working person.” It added credibility. In addition, when it came time to take the GQ, I was able to write a practical part based on my real work tasks. This helped a lot: I did not waste time getting involved in some other areas.
2. Find a place with a convenient work schedule
There can be many options: this is seasonal employment for the summer during the holidays, and remote work, which allows you not to go to the office, and work with flexible schedule. For example, with the ability to go to shift on certain days or hours.
Most likely, sometimes you will still fall out of the learning process, the main thing is to try to do this as little as possible. For example, one of our readers, Ksenia, worked two days a week.
Kseniya
SMM specialist. Has been working since the 3rd year of university.
Initially, I was looking for a part-time job that I could definitely combine with my studies at the university. I found a vacancy for a lingerie seller - I had to go out on weekends, which did not prevent me from attending couples on weekdays. On Saturday, we also had classes, but I managed to agree with the teacher that, despite absenteeism, I would hand over all the assignments and come to the test. He treated with understanding.
3. Take a break before your session
Preparing for the exams is a separate quest. Keep in mind that during this period you will most likely need to devote more time to the university: finish the "tails", do additional tasks, tighten up the theory. It will not be easy to fit all this into your usual schedule. Especially if it happens at work too rush jobs.
Our reader Milena had four sessions a year. To close them without retakes, she made it a rule to take a vacation or day off a week before the exams.

Designer. Has been working since the 3rd year of university.
Taking time off or a vacation is a great way to concentrate only on your studies, prepare normally and at the same time not be left without sleep!
4. Maintain good relationships with classmates
Especially if you are often absent from classes. Classmates will prompt homework and share news from the university. In addition, you can do joint projects with them by delegating some of the tasks. And don't forget to give chocolates to those who helped you the most!

Classmates who continue to go to all couples even at the end of the 4th year are just a godsend! Some of them helped me a lot: sharing notes, sending in homework, uploading answers to exam questions, or quietly marking me as attending streaming lectures.
And yes - don't forget to check regularly chat your group! So you will not miss the distribution of topics for reports, the schedule of exams and statements from teachers with preliminary grades for the semester. If you do not like that there is a lot of flooding, suggest creating a separate channel where the headman will post only the most important things.
5. Make a schedule and try to stick to it
At the same time, it is desirable to spend a little time every day doing homework. Let half an hour, but regularly. How long and when exactly depends on your capabilities.
For example:
- 08:00-14:00 - couples,
- 15:00-19:00 - work,
- 19:30-20:00 - homework,
- 20:30-22:00 - meeting with friends or doing your hobbies.
If attending classes and doing homework every day is unrealistic, try to find at least a couple of hours for this during the week.
Milena
I set aside Sunday to complete my study tasks and do homework. Sometimes for the sake of this I sacrifice meetings with friends and hangouts.
And try to make it a rule: at one time you are only doing work, and at another - only studying. This way you will be able to maintain concentration and be as involved as possible in the process.
6. Don't try to be perfect
Balancing work and study is a challenge in itself. And if at the same time a perfectionist takes it, then he is unlikely to be able to avoid burnout and fatigue.
Therefore, try not to set too high standards for yourself and do not try to keep up with all the hares at once.
Milena
Sometimes I am embarrassed to show my work to the curator, because it seems that what I have done is not perfect, not good enough. Because of this, there is a plug that prevents you from moving on. It is important to overcome the feeling of guilt and say to yourself: “Yes, I did less than I planned. So what? I'll show it to the teacher anyway."
7. Don't forget about rest
Do not forget that outside of work and study there are also many interesting things. Rest will help you restore the resource and gain strength to conquer the peaks.
And in order not to feel remorse, you can even add a rest slot to your schedule. Perhaps in this way you will perceive it as a task that needs to be completed.
Science journalist Asya Kazantseva advises include in your life varieties of recreation that do not require focusing attention. Among them, for example, sleep, walking, taking a bath.
