Apple releases iPhone repair instructions

On April 27, Apple launched a self-repair program in the US, which announced back in 2021. As part of the Self Service Repair initiative, anyone can buy official parts and tools to fix their smartphone on their own. And although the materials are not yet available in Russia, you can download the official manuals now.

Previously, these instructions were available only to Apple Authorized Service Technicians. Looking at the text, it is not hard to guess why the company insists that self-repair is possible only with sufficient skills: almost every page has a warning that careless execution of the procedure can make only worse.

To download the required manual, go to the Apple website at this link. Above you will see nine manuals for smartphones from the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE (2022) line. There is no separation by specific procedures: each file contains complete information on the repair of the selected model.

In addition to detailed instructions in the PDF, there is also a complete list of required tools. And items like “battery press” clearly hint that it is easier for the average user to contact the service than to buy thousands of dollars worth of equipment to change the battery.
