The Hubble telescope showed the collision of two galaxies

NASA showed new unusual photo: on it, Hubble captured the beautiful visual effect caused by the merger of galaxies in the VV689 system in the constellation Leo. This process lasts for billions of years, and in honor of it the system is even informally called the "Angel Wing".
Although from Earth one can sometimes observe a random alignment of galaxies, in which they visually overlap each other, but in fact they are on a great distance, in VV689 they really merge, as a result of which this part of the system looks almost symmetrical, which creates the effect wings.
The image was obtained as part of the Galaxy Zoo civil project. As part of this initiative, hundreds of thousands of volunteers view data from robotic telescopes and classify galaxies. Thanks to this, scientists have been able to discover many strange and impressive types of galaxies, many of which have not been previously studied.
