Fiesta is a growing Russian analogue of Instagram* for iPhone
Miscellaneous / / April 22, 2022
It offers stories, messaging, map pins, and more.
On iOS, Fiesta, a social network for sharing photos from Russian developers, is gaining popularity. It appeared 4 months ago, and now it has entered the top 5 social networks in the App Store.
On the main page, you can view publications from those you follow. Fortunately, the posts are arranged in chronological order: the developers did not copy the chaotic algorithms of Instagram*. The button in the upper right corner allows you to create a new post.
The editor is practically absent: you can only select the desired photos and videos, crop them, add geolocation and description. There is no preview: after entering the description, the post immediately goes to publication.
It will appear in the feed of subscribers and in the author's profile. It is interesting that the author will not see his publication in the feed: the main one will still display only the posts of those you follow.
"History" is also there, but their capabilities are severely limited. There are no filters or masks, you can only take a photo or video through the Fiesta, or upload them from your smartphone. Before publication, it is proposed to add a sticker with geolocation - but, judging by the presence of the "Save to Gallery" button, in the future the developers plan to expand the story editor. So far, the function is not particularly popular: Lifehacker failed to find users with active stories when testing the application.
The Search tab doesn't quite live up to its name. Here you can only search for users by profile name and view the feed of publications of those to whom you are not subscribed. Text search (including hashtags) does not return results, so you will not find conditional Vasya Pupkin if you do not know what he called his account.
Hashtags also work strangely: in the publication they are highlighted in color, while you can’t click on them to see other posts on the same topic.
The "Map" tab looks interesting. Unlike other features, it does not copy Instagram*. In theory, it should offer users events nearby, but in reality, through it, they mainly advertise their business or services. But in a couple of clicks, you can find out where a fresh supply of exotic fruits is nearby, where you can laminate your eyebrows, and where they are looking for models for free makeup.
Unlike other analogues, Now, Fiesta has a built-in messenger for correspondence with other users - it is placed in a separate "Messages" tab.
The application has obvious flaws and limitations, including the lack of advertising tools, but it works stably and is gradually gaining users. If the developers continue to improve it and expand the list of features, it can turn out to be a completely viable social network. What do you think?
