In "Yandex. Browser" added interactive subtitles for YouTube videos

In "Yandex. Browser for PC has interactive subtitles for YouTube videos in four languages ​​- English, French, German and Spanish. Subtitles can be included both in the original language and in Russian.

Everything works on the basis of neural networks. First, Yandex recognizes speech, turns it into text, and then breaks it into sentences. At the first stage, the technology determines the beginning and end of each word, due to which they are highlighted on the screen at the very moment when they are pronounced.

The developers note that interactive subtitles with word-by-word illumination will complement the off-screen video translation function and will come in handy when it is inconvenient to watch video content with sound.

The innovation will be especially useful for those who study the language and do not yet speak it confidently enough. When clicking on an unknown word, the user will receive an instant translation.

To enable subtitles in Russian or a foreign language, you need to hover over the playback window and in the pop-up block "Translate video" select the activation of subtitles in the settings.
