Xiaomi showed the new "killer Kindle" Paper Book Pro II

Xiaomi has announced a new reader with the long name Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro II. She received a large E-ink screen, a 4-core processor and up to 6 weeks of autonomy.

Duokan in the title indicates the firmware of the same name. It was developed as an alternative system for the Amazon Kindle. Its main advantage is the ability to read DJVU files in addition to the usual EPUB, PDF, TXT, EXCEL and DOC. Files can be downloaded from a computer, as well as wirelessly via WLAN or Bluetooth.

The 7.8-inch E-ink screen has a resolution of 1872 x 1404 (pixel density 300 ppi), color backlighting is supported: 24 levels of cold and warm light.

Inside is a quad-core Rockchip RK3566 processor (usually used in set-top boxes), complemented by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. With a thickness of 7mm and a weight of 250g, the device houses a 3,200mAh battery that provides up to 6 weeks of battery life in standby mode.

Xiaomi Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro II was priced at 1,299 yuan (≈$204). Pre-orders in China are already open, the date of the start of sales has not yet been announced.
