NASA announced about the successful calibration of the telescope "James Webb». All optical systems work within expected limits. The team found no critical issues, significant contamination, or optical path blockage. The station successfully collects light from distant objects and transmits it to its devices without any problems.
The agency has released the first image from a fully calibrated telescope. Although its task was to focus on a bright star, the sensitivity of Webb and its sensors made it possible to show even galaxies and stars in the background.
NASA also showed a new selfie from a calibrated NIRCam camera. For comparison: on the right - a picture on the main mirror, received on Earth in February during the initial setup and performance check of the telescope and its sensors.
Show us new views of space and help make new discoveries "James Webb" will be able in a few months. Its main task is to detect the light of galaxies and stars that formed immediately after the Big Bang.
James Webb is an infrared orbital station that replaced the Hubble. It is 100 times more powerful and has become the most expensive and large-scale project in the history of space observations.
