Orion Sentry - MacBook security app with siren and motion sensor
Miscellaneous / / March 07, 2022
A real alarm that will go off if someone tries to take your device.
If you work in public places and always worry about the safety of your laptop when you have to leave for a short time, then the Orion Sentry app is just right for you.
This is a small "anti-theft" utility that acts as a kind of burglar alarm and turns on a loud siren when someone tries to steal your computer.
It all works quite simply: you just need to launch Orion Sentry, enable the desired options and arm the MacBook by clicking the Activate button in the drop-down menu.
Triggers can be the following: unplugging the power cord from the charging port, or sockets, closing the lid, as well as the movement of the laptop, which is recognized using special algorithms.
In the event of an alarm being triggered on the built-in speakers, the characteristic siren sound immediately starts. In addition, the webcam takes a series of pictures and automatically uploads them to iCloud in the Orion folder.
To turn off the siren, you must enter your administrator password or unlock your Mac with Touch ID or Apple Watch if you have one.
The application is available for free, but in the basic version, only the trigger on power failure and the siren will work. To unlock the remaining functions, you will have to pay 450 rubles. Before buying, you can test the utility by activating the Pro version for three days.
