Virgin Galactic launches space ticket sales
Miscellaneous / / February 16, 2022
The cost of such a trip is exorbitant.
Virgin Galactic has opened the sale of tickets for a suborbital tourist flight. The first 1,000 buyers willing to pay $450,000 (≈33.8 million rubles) will be able to get into space later this year.
For this money, tourists will get a unique experience: in 90 minutes they will climb to the height of the Karman line (a conditional border between atmosphere of the Earth and space), admire our planet, spend several minutes in weightlessness in the cabin of the ship, after which will return back. Before the flight, they will have to undergo mandatory briefing and training for several days.
The exact date of Virgin Galactic's first tourist flight has not yet been announced, but those who buy a ticket now are unlikely to be among its passengers: the first 600 tickets were sold out back in 2014. At the same time, the price was more modest: 250 thousand dollars (≈18.8 million rubles).
The head of Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson, also took part in the preparations for the commercial flight: in July last year, he
committed suborbital flight on a rocket plane VSS Unity. You can book your ticket at official website companies. To do this, you need to make an advance payment of 150 thousand dollars (of which 25 thousand are non-refundable), the remaining 300 thousand will need to be paid before the flight.
