Billionaire and founder of payments company Shift4 Jared Isaacman announced participation in the Polaris commercial space program, which will be implemented jointly with Elon Musk's SpaceX. Within its framework, it is planned to carry out three missions.
On the first mission, codenamed Polaris Dawn, a Falcon 9 booster will launch a Crew Dragon spacecraft with a completely non-professional crew into orbit. In addition to Isaacman, the ship will include retired Air Force pilot Scott Potit, as well as SpaceX operations engineers Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon. The team will spend five days in orbit and perform a spacewalk.
The Polaris Dawn is scheduled for late 2022, but no exact date has been announced yet. The second mission will also use Crew Dragon and Falcon 9, while the third will use the latest interplanetary rocket Starship, which is still being tested.
