Galaxy S22 and iPhone 13 performance comparison

Samsung last week announced the latest line of flagship smartphones Galaxy S22. It is quite expected that all three models of the series received the current top-end processors - Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200.

The authors of PC Mag decided comparehow powerful new smartphones have become compared to their predecessors and competitors. For this, popular benchmarks were used, including Geekbench, GFXBench and Basemark Web.

Geekbench results showed almost identical results for the Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra. The improvements of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 compared to the Snapdragon 888 are significant: the gain in the single-core test was 13%, in the multi-core test it was 9%. In the GFXBench graphics test, performance improved by 20% compared to the previous generation.

But although the new items bypassed the Pixel 6 with a Tensor processor in Geekbench, the iPhone 13 Pro Max was too tough for Samsung's flagships. Apple's flagship scored 500 points higher in the single-core test and machine learning benchmark, and the multi-core test showed a huge difference of 1200 points - not in favor of Samsung.

The Basemark Web benchmark, which monitors the speed of loading and displaying pages in a browser, also demonstrates the unconditional victory of the iPhone - but here the differences come down more to the difference between Safari and Chrome than to themselves smartphones.

While Snapdragon versions of the Galaxy S22 were used in the comparison above, tests on YouTube channels (e.g. GSMONLINE.PL and The Tech Chap) show that the Exynos version of the Galaxy S22 Ultra achieves similar results, averaging 1170 and 3750 points in the single-core and multi-core Geekbench tests, respectively. This version will be sold in Russia and European countries.
