Yippy is a free clipboard manager for macOS that will give odds to many analogues
Miscellaneous / / February 14, 2022
The tool allows you to store a huge number of records in the history, including images and documents.
If you are actively working with spreadsheets, documents, and other files, you must have come across a situation where the clipboard lacked a couple of additional slots and available memory. To solve the problem on macOS, you will need third-party utilities, such as Yippy.
This is a simple and at the same time functional tool that can easily replace or supplement the built-in clipboard. Yippy supports plain and formatted text, images, archives, and any files. The history can store up to 1,500 entries.
The application is called using a keyboard shortcut, which is easy to remap to your liking. Yippy's interface is in the form of a panel, its size and position is configured in the menu bar. There are many options: any of the edges of the screen and the center. The last option looks the most authentic. So Yippy resembles Spotlight.
All previously copied elements are displayed in the interface as a list. The last ten are easy to insert using the shortcuts Cmd + 1-9, and the rest are navigated by scrolling the mouse or keyboard arrows. You can find older entries in the search bar.
In the menu bar, you can clear the history and enable automatic launch of Yippy at system startup. There are few settings in the application: a limit on the number of saved elements, an option to insert rich text, and a choice of a shortcut to launch.
Yippy is open source and free.
