3 Easy Ways to Remove Scratches from Window Glass

Sometimes on the windows there are not only ordinary stains, but also scratches. When they are too deep, it is worth contacting a specialist. But with light defects you can deal with yourself.

1. Using clear nail polish

Even if you have never done and are not going to do a manicure, you should always keep a small bottle of clear varnish on hand. For example, in case you need to deal with a particularly capricious scratch on the glass.

Apply a thin coat of varnish to the scratch and leave for an hour. Then, lightly dampen a cloth with nail polish remover and gently wipe the surface near the scratch to remove any excess.

2. Using toothpaste or abrasive soap

For this method, a whitening toothpaste or pumice stone soap is suitable, which is designed to remove stubborn dirt.

Wash the window and let it dry. Apply some toothpaste or soap to a slightly damp cloth and rub the scratch for about 30 seconds in small, circular motions. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the glass. Then remove any remaining paste or soap with a dry cloth. If the scratch remains in place, repeat the procedure again.

3. Using a metal dishcloth

It would seem that it should leave even more scratches on the glass, however, this is an effective way to solve the problem. The secret is to choose the right washcloth. It must be very soft. Some manufacturers indicate this degree of softness with the #0000 code on the label.

Another important nuance is to use a new washcloth each time, because the old one can scratch the glass even more due to dirt or dust remaining on it.

Gently work the scratch in a circular motion for a few minutes and then wash the glass. If the defect has not gone away the first time, it is better to try another method.
