MacOS Monterey 12.2 users complain about MacBook battery draining fast
Miscellaneous / / January 31, 2022
It might be worth delaying the update.
Earlier this week, Apple released macOS Monterey 12.2. MacBook users who install the update immediately noticed degradation of the autonomy of the laptop. In particular, excessive battery discharge was observed in sleep mode - all 100% “fly away” overnight.
This has been reported by users on the MacRumors and Reddit forums, as well as on Twitter, but it is not yet clear how widespread the problem is.
Through the "Terminal" it was possible to find out that the MacBook battery began to run low due to the connected Bluetooth accessories, which often wake up the computer in sleep mode. And the issue affects both Intel-based Macs and M1-based Macs.
Users have reported that the issue goes away when they turn off Bluetooth on the Mac or unpair all Bluetooth accessories. However, doing this every time before closing the laptop lid is clearly not the most convenient solution.
