Lifehacker Podcast: 5 Queens Who Were Really Weird
Miscellaneous / / January 24, 2022
Little quirks of rulers endowed with rather big power.
Queen of Castile Juana I the Mad, for example, loved her husband, King Philip I the Handsome so much that even after his death she barely parted with him. The funeral procession rode around Spain for several months, because Juana could not find a place worthy of accepting the remains of her beloved husband.
And Zinga Mbandi Ngola, the Queen of Angola, kept a harem of 60 handsome men in her youth. When periodically she could not choose one for the upcoming night, she forced the men to fight for her and bestowed her attention on the strongest.
Other, no less interesting stories are told in the new episode by host Mikhail Volnykh.
