Free LibreSpot utility to get rid of Spotify ads on Mac

Spotify is one of the few streaming services that you can use for free. In the desktop version, this is almost no inconvenience - you just have to put up with ads. To make it less attention-grabbing, users usually turn off the sound on sponsored inserts, and then turn it back on when the next track plays.

With a little getting used to, you will do it automatically, but over time, even such a trick gets bored and starts to annoy. But to solve the problem, it is not necessary to buy a subscription. Instead, you can simply install the little LibreSpot utility.

In fact, it does all of the above for you - it automatically detects the beginning and end of commercials and turns off the sound until they end. Actually, this is the only function of the application, with which it, however, does an excellent job.

After installing LibreSpot, you will no longer hear any ads (no audio or video), just the music will fade for 30 seconds and then continue again. At such times, the corresponding icon will be displayed next to the program icon in the menu bar.

In the settings, you can set the accuracy of determining advertising fragments. The standard one “eats up” about half a second at the end of the current and the beginning of the next track, but does not create a load on the processor. High - works more accurately, but consumes more resources.

LibreSpot is distributed free of charge. The program supports dark mode and works on macOS Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey.
