This nostalgic film based on the book of the same name by Roald Dahl was directed by actor Danny DeVito, while he himself played Mr. Wormwood in it. The role of Matilda was played by the sweetest Mara Wilson ("Mrs. Doubtfire", "Miracle on 34th Street").

Director Josh Trank, along with fellow screenwriter Max Landis, came up with a very interesting concept for a film about how teenagers acquire superhuman abilities. The recipe for success was simple: they combined the superhero movie and the genre mockumentary. It turned out fresh and unusual - the picture was appreciated by both critics and ordinary viewers.

6. Shazam!

This movie is completely different from most superhero movies. The authors very talentedly and funny showed how an ordinary teenager, get him the appearance of a jock and fantastic abilities. For example, instead of sowing good and helping those in need, the hero initially uses his power to buy beer and get into a strip club.
In addition to witty dialogues and great jokes, the film also pleases with the performance of Zachary Levi. The latter simply brilliantly plays the role of a teenager in an adult body.

Brian De Palma's stunning horror was the first film adaptation of Stephen King's work. After that, other directors became interested in the king of horror, and Carrie received two Oscar nominations.

Logan is drastically different from the rest of the X-Men franchise and doesn't feel like your typical blockbuster hero at all. Director James Mangold made this part mundane and dark, showing Wolverine as an ordinary living person. Thanks to this approach, the movie turned out to be chamber, sincere and painfully touching.

The moment when a child cycles through the corridors of a hotel on a bicycle and meets creepy twins has become a real icon of the horror genre and has been quoted many times in popular culture.
And in 2019, director Mike Flanagan directed the sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep. This time the main character of the film was already an adult Danny, who was played by the charming Ewan McGregor. In the story, the man begins to telepathically communicate with the young psychic Abra, and this leads him to confrontation with the hunters for gifted children.
