An incredibly beautiful adaptation of the novel by William Lindsey Grisham, directed by Guillermo del Toro. Unfortunately, the film will appear in Russia belatedly: the world premiere took place on December 1. In addition to the luxurious visual style, the picture also attracts with a bright cast: Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Rooney Mara and other stars played in it.

- Bulgaria, USA, 2022.

- Premiere: 18 February.
In numerous offshoots, sequels and remakes of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it seems that even the fans themselves are confused. The main thing to know about the new part is that it will be a direct continuation of Tobe Hooper's original 1974 tape, which told about a group of friends who ended up on a cannibal farm and became victims of a maniac named Kozhanoe Face.
The sequel was produced by Federico Alvarez (Don't Breathe) and directed by David Blue Garcia, director of the thriller The Texan. And the new movie will be released directly on Netflix.

Morbius

Sony's horror project starring Jared Leto will not be included in the official Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nevertheless, Dr. Michael Morbius is an important and fairly well-known comic book character. Spiderman.
And the strangest thing is that Michael Keaton will play in the film: he will again appear in the image of the villain Vulture from the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. But it is still unclear why exactly Sony and Marvel need this move and how the creators are going to merge the two universes.
In the story, the hero is trying to recover from a rare blood disease, but his experiments go too far, and the doctor turns into a living vampire. And the superpowers of Morbius very soon attract the attention of government agents.
5. Studio 666

The script for this horror comedy was written by Dave Grohl, musician of Nirvana and Foo Fighters, and directed by B. J. McDonnell, known for his music videos for the band Slayer. Actually, all the main roles in the film were played by members of the Foo Fighters.
In the trailer, you can see how they arrive at an old mansion converted into a recording studio, and at some point they encounter inexplicable events, and an evil spirit inhabits Grohl.

Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse), one of the key figures in modern post-horror, is back with his new work. Previously, he collaborated with the A24 studio to achieve amazing results on a modest budget. Now the director was entrusted with as much as 60 million dollars and famous actors. Among them are Anya Taylor-Joy and Willem Dafoe, who have already worked with Eggers.
Alexander Skarsgard will play the lead role, and Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke and singer Björk will also appear in the film. The plot tells about the Viking Amlet, who takes revenge on the murderers of his father. And this story is very reminiscent of Shakespeare's Hamlet.
7. black phone
The Black Phone
- USA, 2021.
- Horror, drama.
- World premiere: 23 June.
- Premiere in Russia: unknown.
If highbrow social feeds disguised as horror movies are already fed up, you should wait for the Black Phone. This is a chilling story about a kidnapper and murderer of children, with a little vibe to Andres Muschietti's It. By the way, the film is based on the story of Joe Hill, the son of Stephen Kingwho invented Pennywise. So this comparison is very appropriate here.
The film was directed by Scott Derrickson, director of "Sinister" and "The Six Demons of Emily Rose" - mainstream, but rather scary films. And the role of the villain in a terrible mask was played by the talented Ethan Hawke, who had already worked with Derrickson in Sinister.
Russian viewers will have to wait until June for the premiere (the film was supposed to be released back in February, but the date was postponed). The expectation of critics, who have already watched the film and write positive reviews about it, is even more fueled. Reviewers praiseThe Black Phone (2021) / Rotten Tomatoes atmosphere, script and acting by Ethan Hawke. They especially liked the fact that the creators managed to organically stretch the short story into a whole film.
8. Not
Nope
- USA, 2022.
- Horror, drama.
- World premiere: 22 July.
- Premiere in Russia: unknown.
About new job Jordan Peele ("Get out", "We") nothing is known yet. There is only an unusual poster with a cloud from which the tail of a kite stretches, the name and names of the actors. They include Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya and Minari's Steven Yan. But, most likely, "No", like the director's previous projects, will combine elements of horror and social comedy.
9. Salem's lot
Salem's Lot
- USA, 2022.
- Horror, thriller.
- Premiere: 9 September.
- Premiere in Russia: unknown.
This year will not do without new adaptations of Stephen King. This time, fans of the writer's work are waiting for the film adaptation of the 1975 novel of the same name. It was directed by Gary Dauberman, who wrote the scripts for The Nun and It.
The original story follows author Ben Maers, who returns to his hometown of Salem's Lot in search of inspiration for a new book. But his main goal is to overcome his childhood fear associated with a mansion on a hill. After some time, people begin to mysteriously die and disappear in the city.
In 1979, the director of Poltergeist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Toub Hooper, made a two-part TV movie based on this novel. Also in 2004, a series of the same name was released, which fans rated rather as controversial. So I wonder what the modern version of this story will turn out to be.
10. Halloween is ending
Halloween Ends
- USA, 2022.
- Horror, thriller.
- Premiere: 13 October.
- Premiere in Russia: unknown.
And another horror franchise in which it is easy to get confused. The first film about serial killer Michael Myers appeared in 1978, after which there were many sequels and not very successful remakes.
But in 2018, a direct sequel to the first picture appeared, shot by David Gordon Green, and the audience rated it quite highly. The second part of the reboot - "Halloween Kills" - was released in 2021, and "Halloween Ends" should be the final chapter of the story of Michael Myers.
