How to delete a Telegram account
Miscellaneous / / January 09, 2022
This can be done in two ways.
What is important to know before deleting your Telegram account
There are two ways to delete a Telegram account: manually at the request of the owner and automatically after inactivity for a specified period (by default - 6 months).
After deleting your account, you will lose all correspondence, photos, videos, files and other content if it is not saved in the device memory. In this case, the information will remain with your interlocutors. If you want to root out everything related to you, first go through the list of chats and delete those where there is something important.
The channels and groups you created will not disappear and will continue to work. Designated admins will be able to manage them, but there will no longer be a creator.
Unlike other messengers and social networks Telegram account cannot be restored after deletion. Once you will be asked to confirm the deletion of the profile, but then there will be no way back.
The only option to return is to register a new account. You can even use your old phone number. Of course, this will be a clean profile: chats, chat history and files will not appear. Also keep in mind that sometimes registration for an old number may not be available immediately, but after a few days.

Doing this directly from the application - regardless of platform - will not work. Any browser is required. The algorithm is as follows.
Go to the special link, enter your phone number and click Next.
The official Telegram bot for service alerts will send a confirmation code. Copy it by opening the app on any device.
Return to your browser, paste the code in the Confirmation code field and click Sign In.
Optionally, indicate the reason why you are deleting the account and click Delete My Account.
Attention, last chance to change your mind! If you are sure, click the Yes, delete my account button.
After that, the system will display a message stating that your account has been successfully deleted.
How to set up automatic removal of Telegram
In the privacy settings, you can set the profile to self-destruct in case you will not log into Telegram for a long time. This is how it is done.
Launch Telegram on any device and open Settings → Privacy.
Find the section "Delete account automatically", click on "If I do not go" and select the desired period.
Now, if none of your devices is active for the specified period, the account and all content associated with it will be automatically deleted.
