Sony announces PlayStation VR2 headset with Sense controllers for PS5

At CES 2022, Sony is officially announcedthat the second generation of the branded virtual reality headset will be called the PlayStation VR2, and the controllers for it will be called the PlayStation VR2 Sense. The company did not show either one or the other, but did talk about some of the possibilities.

• The developers assure that the novelty takes VR games to a completely different level, providing the maximum effect of presence.
• The helmet itself will receive an OLED display with a resolution for each eye of 2000 × 2040 pixels at a refresh rate of 90 or 120 Hz. It also claims HDR support and a 110-degree viewing angle.
• The cameras and sensors built into the headset allow you to track the movements and position of the user's head without external devices.
• The PS VR2 Sense controllers, connected via Bluetooth 5.1, are able to track the player's gaze and provide tactile feedback. For example, gamers can feel the accelerated pulse of the character during tense moments, the movement of objects passing close to the character's head, as well as jolts and impacts of any kind.

• In addition, the controllers have adaptive triggers, like the PS5 gamepads, for a better experience of interacting with in-game items.
• You can connect PlayStation VR2 to PS5 using a single USB-C cable.
• PS VR2 Sense is equipped with rechargeable batteries, which are also powered via USB-C.

At the same time, Sony announced that one of the largest PlayStation exclusive franchises will be coming to PS VR2. We're talking about Horizon Call of the Mountain by Guerrilla and Firesprite. Created exclusively for PS VR2, this original game will take players to the next level of immersion in the fantasy world of Horizon.
