Detail turns iPhone or DSLR into a webcam for Mac

Even the newest MacBook Pros come with only Full HD cameras, not to mention the previous 720p versions. At the same time, there may be a device with a much better camera at hand, which lies idle. The creators of Detail decided to take advantage of this and turn the gadget into a webcam.

The utility is defined by the system as a camera that can broadcast video from an iPhone, camera, and any external USB devices. For iOS gadgets to work, you need to install the companion app and connect to your Mac via Wi-Fi. Compound cable not necessary, but can give a better picture.

On the mobile, there are no settings, only the connection status and the viewfinder for previewing the frame - even the choice of the front or main camera is carried out from the computer.

On a Mac, the Detail window displays the video you are capturing, along with recording buttons and activating guides in the frame. Filters, cinematic blur and zoom can be applied.

Below is a carousel of scenes - the so-called pre-configured options for sources and effects, between which you can quickly switch. Picture selection and text overlay are provided.

To use Detail in video conferencing, streaming and in any applications, just select it among the available cameras. Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, YouTube, Twitch and more are supported. In fact, any services and programs where there is a choice of a video source in the settings.

Among the additional features in the application there is a video recording (which is useful for creating screencasts with comments), as well as integration with Google calendar to quickly jump to added appointments.

Detail is distributed free of charge and is available for macOS. There are no paid functions in the application, nor advertising. At the same time, a small watermark is superimposed on the image, which the developers obviously use for promotion.
