Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro presented: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, large battery and affordable price tag

Xiaomi has announced a new generation of flagship smartphones. Earlier this year, the company refused from Mi in the names, so the new items are called simply Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. Together with them, the more affordable Xiaomi 12X was shown with simpler characteristics.
Xiaomi 12
This model received a relatively small 6.28-inch display - which we have not seen on the flagship of the brand since the Mi 8. With a 20: 9 aspect ratio, it is narrow enough to be used with one hand. The device weighs only 180 g.
The AMOLED panel from Samsung is FHD + and supports refresh rates up to 120Hz. The display has a built-in fingerprint scanner, and Gorilla Glass Victus is responsible for protection from scratches.
The main camera is three-module. The main one is Sony IMX766 with a resolution of 50 megapixels, there is also a 13 megapixel wide-angle module and a telephoto / macro 5 megapixel. The manufacturer calls the CyberFocus autofocus technology of its own design as one of the main features of the camera. The speakers are Harman Kardon tuned and support Dolby Atmos surround sound.
Xiaomi managed to fit a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a cooling system for it and a decent 4,500 mAh battery in a fairly compact case. The battery supports charging up to 67W, wireless charging (up to 50W) and reversible wireless (up to 10W) are also supported. The latter can be used to recharge accessories and other smartphones.
Out of the box, Xiaomi 12 will run on MIUI 12.5, but in January the smartphone will receive MIUI 13, which was also announced today.
The novelty will be available in black, blue and pink, as well as a special version with a vegan green leather back panel. It will go on sale in China on December 31, prices are as follows:
- 8/128 GB - 3,699 yuan (≈42,800 rubles)
- 8/256 GB - 3,999 yuan (≈46,200 rubles)
- 12/256 GB - 4 399 yuan (≈50 800 rubles)
Xiaomi 12 Pro
The Pro version has a 6.73-inch display with 2K resolution and LTPO 2.0 technology, which allows automatically vary the display update in the range of 1-120 Hz depending on the displayed content. It also uses a sub-screen fingerprint scanner and Gorilla Glass Victus.
The camera also received an upgrade: it uses a system of three modules of 50 megapixels each: the main Sony IMX707, plus portrait and ultra-wide-angle.
The 4,600mAh battery is in two parts and supports up to 120W wireless charging and up to 50W wireless charging. A Surge P1 chip is used to control the power supply.
The pricing and release date are identical to the base model, the prices are as follows:
- 8/128 GB - 4,699 yuan (≈54,400 rubles)
- 8/256 GB - 4,999 yuan (≈57,900 rubles)
- 12/256 GB - 5,399 yuan (≈62,500 rubles)
Xiaomi 12X
The third model in the lineup is the slightly simplified Xiaomi 12. It comes with the same 6.28 display with 120Hz refresh rate and built-in scanner fingerprint, triple camera with 50MP main module and 4,500mAh battery with fast charging. There are two key differences: it uses a Snapdragon 870 processor and there is no wireless charging (neither standard nor reversible).
The Xiaomi 12X will also be available in black, blue and pink on December 31, just like the older models. The green leather option won't be here. Prices are already known:
