Miscellaneous / / December 28, 2021
There will be three versions for different devices at once.
Together with new flagships Xiaomi 12 MIUI 13, a system update based on Android 12, was also presented today.
A lot of attention was paid to the presentation of new security features. In particular, the face scan now also reads the upper body, analyzing the user's complexion, so that someone with a similar face, but a different figure, could not unlock the device.
Another initiative on the road to user safety is digital fraud protection. It consists of a database of sites and devices, connection to which can compromise personal data, as well as phone numbers that may belong to fraudsters. If you receive a call from such a number, the system will display a corresponding warning. It is not yet known if this will work outside of China.
Visually, the system was also modified: the font was replaced with MiSans, which is simplified and more symmetrical compared to what is used now. In addition, we added new animated wallpapers and redesigned the widgets so that they fit on the screen in neat rows.
A useful innovation is the Mi Magic Center page, which displays all devices available to the user from the Xiaomi ecosystem. It allows you to transfer a file or start playing on another device by simply dragging and dropping the media icon to the desired location on the screen.
At the same time, they showed MIUI 13 Pad, which is designed for devices with large screens. It will be received by the Xiaomi Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro tablets, while Mi MIX Fold will be the first device with MIUI Fold firmware adapted for foldable devices.
The tablet version will receive support for unique gestures, including dragging windows across the screen, two-finger proximity, dragging and dropping files and opening applications as miniature windows. Xiaomi claims that more than 3,000 apps have already been adapted for the tablet version.
In addition, Xiaomi has revealed the timeline for the first wave of the update - separately for Chinese and global devices.
