Power Mode Switcher - utility for quickly enabling and automating power saving mode in macOS
Miscellaneous / / December 27, 2021
The tool is free to use right from the menu bar.
In macOS Monterey, Apple has added a dedicated power saving mode. Similar to iOS, it lowers the cpu, dims the screen, and lowers the fan speed to conserve battery life. Convenient and useful function. The only problem is that for her activation you need to dig into the settings.
And this is where the Power Mode Switcher application comes in handy, which, in fact, is a switch, and also provides options for automating the power saving mode.
Like all similar tools, this utility works from the menu bar. From here, the economy mode can be turned on in just two clicks. The Power Mode Switcher icon also serves as an indicator by which it is clear whether the mode is currently active or not. This is not provided by default in macOS.
In the drop-down menu, you can enable some useful options such as application startup, automatic activation of the mode at startup and additional On / Off text on the indicator.
In the paid version, automation scripts are available. So, you can configure the enabling or disabling of the power saving mode when opening or shutting down certain applications.
In addition, there are different options for activating the saving mode: when the laptop is not connected to the outlet, when the battery charge drops below a predetermined level or the remaining operating time is less than the specified one.
Power Mode Switcher is free to use and ad-free. Differences from the Pro version, which is distributed for $ 10, only in the absence of automation and the need to enter password administrator at startup.
