Best Android App of 2021 by Lifehacker

Summing up the results of the outgoing year and choosing the best of the best. Here is the editorial opinion, and you can determine the winner by voting.
HalloApp is the best Android app this year. It is a messenger / social media hybrid with an emphasis on privacy and no ads.
The most popular messaging program WhatsApp at the beginning of the year announced about the change in the terms of the privacy policy. The service began to openly transfer personal data to the company that owns Facebook. Many users did not like such changes much, and they began to look towards alternative ways of communication.
Taking this opportunity, the former developers of the green messenger Neiraj Aror and Michael Donoghue suggested its replacement - HalloApp.
All data, including correspondence, is encrypted here. No information about users is saved in clear text. The application has not only single and group chats, but also statuses, and a feed with friends' news, somewhat reminiscent of that on Instagram.
In general, a good solution for those who just want to communicate with loved ones. And not attract the attention of Mark Zuckerberg, eager to show you even more personalized ads.

I am a journalist with a passion for technology and science. Digging into Windows settings, making my regular TV smart, and reflashing my Android as a hobby. I am also interested in space, history, zoology and watch a lot of movies. I love to talk about crazy fan theories and debunk pseudoscientific myths. I have a fondness for Linux (but not enough to use it all the time).
