Podcast "Now I Understand": Myths About the Homosexuality of the Ancient Greeks and Descendants of the Hellenes
Miscellaneous / / December 24, 2021
No one is obliged to share the system of values of people from the past, but this does not mean that you can hang labels on them.
The idea that antiquity is an era of complete emancipation and permissiveness does not correspond to reality. Of course, the sexual ethics of the time are not like those of today. For example, in the intercourse there were two sides: dominant, active - and humiliated, passive. Sexual orientation as such did not exist in Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome, and the choice of a partner was rather a matter of taste. All this, as well as about whether modern Greeks can be considered descendants of the Hellenes, we talk about in the new issue of the podcast "Now I understand."
