Google announced new rules for using the cloud "Disk", according to which the service will begin to restrict access to potentially dangerous user files. These include:
- malware and viruses;
- content aimed at inciting hatred;
- files resulting from the actions of cybercriminals;
- sexually explicit content;
- potentially dangerous data for children.
Such files will be marked in the storage with a special flag, they cannot be shared with other users or made publicly available via a link.
Owners will receive an email notifying them of the action taken and a warning on how to request a revision of the restrictions if they deem it to be an error.
Google also explains what it can make "exceptions based on artistic, educational, documentary or scientific considerations." This suggests that the automatic review process can be supplemented with an editorial handling element.
TechRadar Experts thinkthat the framework of potentially dangerous content is rather blurred, and they do not give a clear idea of which files can be blocked and which cannot. For example, it is not clear whether your own intimate photos stored on Disk are subject to restrictions.
