Including the Apple 5W standard block.
An interesting video has been released on the AppleInsider YouTube channel that compares the charging speed of MagSafe with other adapters, both wired and wireless.
To do this, the author took four popular chargers: a standard 5 W adapter, which previously came with the iPhone and before Most Apple users still have the new 20W Apple USB-C adapter, Moshi Otto wireless charging Q, which puts out 7.5W (max for iPhones without MagSafe), and a standard MagSafe charging when paired with a 20W charger.
After that, he completely discharged the iPhone 12 Pro several times and charged it with each of the four chargers, recording the charge level every 5 minutes. As a result, we managed to draw up a graph that looks like this:
The test clearly demonstrated why using a 5W base unit with new smartphones is not a good idea: it took 3 hours 15 to fully charge the iPhone 12 Pro, which doesn't even have the largest battery in the lineup. minutes. Qi-charging performed the task faster than him (2 hours 40 minutes), MagSafe did it in 2 hours 10 minutes, and wired charging with 20 W showed the best result - 1 hour 55 minutes.
This confirms that a 20W PSU is the most efficient way to charge. If you have a little time and want to get as much charge as possible, it's best to use it with a cable. In the case when the smartphone needs to be fully charged, the choice between MagSafe and the cable comes down to preference: 15 minutes difference doesn't really matter if you're ready to leave anyway iPhone for 2 hours.
