The developers have added new functions from the main version of the system, optimized memory management and improved privacy.
Launched in 2017 Android (Go edition), intended for the most budget devices, will soon receive an update to the 12th version. About this Google announced on my blog, and also talked about the main changes. We chose the most important thing.
Faster application launch
Google claims that Android 12 (Go edition) will speed up application launch times by up to 30% over the previous version. Software developers will receive a new toolkit SplashScreen API, which will allow them to provide more stable and smoother operation of their products on low-level devices productivity.
Improving autonomy and working with memory
The new version of the system has learned to better save battery power and memory by putting applications into sleep mode. It will be applied to those programs that have not been used for a long time. And the latest version of Files Go will allow you to recover files within 30 days after deletion, so users can confidently get rid of unnecessary files in order to free up space in time.
New smart features
Smart new features will be automatically suggested on the Recent Apps screen, including the ability to listen or translate the text on the page, if it is, for example, a browser or a document, and also make a quick screenshot.
Simplified application sharing
With Android 12 (Go edition), users will be able to save bandwidth by sharing apps directly with nearby devices using Nearby Share and Google Play.
Easy access to profile change
To make it convenient to use one device with someone close to you, Google put an account change icon right on the lock screen. From there, you can easily go to your guest account to transfer your device safely to someone.
Improved privacy
Android 12 (Go edition) will provide more information on applications accessing user data. For this, a new Privacy dashboard will be added, which will show which programs are accessing the microphone, camera, geolocation, and so on.
Also, when applications start the camera or microphones, an indicator will appear at the top of the screen. Permissions can be revoked quickly if necessary.
All of these improvements will be available on Android devices (Go edition) in 2022. The timing of the update distribution depends on the region and smartphone model.
