Research: smoking vapes can lead to impotence
Miscellaneous / / December 02, 2021
The risk of pathologies is about twice that of nonsmokers.
Scientists have long proven that smoking can cause erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular disease. Does the use of e-cigarettes and other nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) have the same effect? This question was asked by doctors at a number of US universities. They did a lot of researchAssociation of E-Cigarettes With Erectile Dysfunction: The Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health Study on this topic and published the results in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
The study involved 13,711 men aged 20 to 65 years. All of them passed a survey in which they talked about their problems with potency, bad habits, chronic diseases and other problems. Possible relationship between the use of ENDS and erectile dysfunction tested in full and limited sample multivariate logistic regression models adjusted for several risk factors.
Scientists have come to conclusionthat those who smoke vapes and e-cigarettes experience potency problems on average twice as often as those who have never used ENDS. Moreover, it does not depend on age, cardiovascular disease and excess weight. The only identified factor that could improve the situation was physical activity.
This study does not make definitive conclusions, as for a more complete picture it is necessary to take into account the possible influence of a number of other variables, including smoking history. However, the current results are already causing concern and suggest a link between vaping smoking and male sexual health problems.
