But we understand that they are just ibex.
Swedish scientists conducted a studyEven the stars think that I am superior: Personality, intelligence and belief in astrology among 264 volunteers to identify the connection between belief in horoscopes with other personality traits. To do this, each participant underwent a series of tests for personality traits, narcissism and intelligence, as well as tests assessing their belief in astrology and horoscopes.
Of the top five personality traits, narcissism showed the greatest correlation with belief in astrology. Openness, awareness, and neuroticism showed no connection, and benevolence and extraversion have little positive correlation. Intelligence showed an inverse relationship: the higher IQ, the lower the belief in astrology.
As the researchers write, the link between astrology and narcissism "may have to do with the self-centered worldview that unites them." In addition, according to the survey results, people with narcissistic traits are more likely to believe that astrology has a scientific basis - which suggests that they are generally more inclined to ignore uncomfortable facts.
Also, scientists have found that women and the elderly are more likely to believe in horoscopes. It should be noted here that the sample was initially small and sufficiently homogeneous for such statements: 87% of the respondents were women aged 25 to 34 years.
