"Alice" learned to sound e-books

Yandex taught Alice to turn ordinary e-books into audiobooks. It is enough to say "Alice, open the" Reader "", select the work and click on the headphone icon.

• You can choose a suitable reading speed and voice acting option - a standard female voice or a male voice.
• Speech synthesis technology, trained on examples of the speech of professional speakers, is responsible for dubbing the text. On their basis, the assistant learns to correctly put stress in words, pause and choose intonation.
• Books in the "Reader", which was launched in the summer, can be loaded directly from the device memory using the button in the upper right corner.

The developers note that reading books can be useful in different situations - for example, when driving or performing other tasks, when it is impossible to look at the smartphone screen. Also, "Alice" may well read a book at night to a child who cannot sleep.
