The creators of the series "The Witcher" spoke about the upcoming prequel "Origins"

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the creators of The Witcher: Origins miniseries Blood Origin, shared fresh details about the project.
Showrunner and Netflix co-creator Declan De Barra noted that this prequel will explore the pre-colonized world of elves, when the entire continent was home to their thriving empire.
De Barra drew parallels between the events in Sapkowski's books and real historical chronicles. According to him, the fall of the civilization of the once great elves is comparable to the decline of the Roman Empire or The Mayan empires, which were also once at the peak of their development, after which the dark time. The series "The Witcher Origins" will try to show what the elves were and what they wanted, the author added.
The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrick also noted:
We've obviously heard on the show that humans brought civilization to elves. They were the ones who showed them what it was like to be civilized. And in fact, what we see in Origins is exactly the opposite. That world was much closer to the Golden Age than what we see in The Witcher years later.
The action of "Origin" will unfold 1200 years before the events of "The Witcher" with Henry Cavill, when the magical cataclysm of Conjugation of Spheres occurred, which mixed the boundaries of the worlds. Also in the series should reveal the theme of the creation of the first witcher.
Some characters are already known:
- Sophia Brown plays Eily, a royal guard turned wandering musician.
- Michelle Yeoh will play Skiana, the last member of a nomadic tribe of elf swordsmen, on a mission to retrieve a blade stolen from her people.
- Lawrence O'Fuaran will appear as the character of Fjall, a man born into a clan of warriors who swore to protect the king, but who is sent to avenge after the death of a loved one.
The release date of the series "The Witcher Origins" has not yet been named, but the premiere should take place before the end of 2022.
