A horror from the authors of "Deadpool", a classic from Ridley Scott and one domestic sci-fi are waiting for you.
1. Apollo 18

The Apollo space program was shut down on the 17th launch, but there was another ship sent to the moon. Its crew had to find out from their own experience that the Earth's satellite is not so lifeless and even very dangerous.
Timur Bekmambetov's production project interprets the numerous myths and conspiracy theories around the Apollo program in a very creepy way. The film looks like it really was edited from the space station surveillance camera: the picture here is mostly blurry and noisy.
2. Cloverfield paradox

There are big resource problems on Earth. Humanity needs an alternative source of energy, and for this, scientists are sending the Shepard particle accelerator into orbit. The crew of the Cloverfield space station is tasked with testing it. After a series of unsuccessful attempts, the team still manages to start the device, but the installation overheats and throws the station to the other end of the solar system. At the same time, the astronauts also manage to open a portal to the world of creepy monsters.
The first film in the Cloverfield universe told about the attack of a giant monsters to New York. The tape was liked by both viewers and critics, and its producer J. J. Abrams later decided to develop the story in spin-offs.
Unusually, all films are radically different in style. So, "Cloverfield, 10" turned out to be a chamber thriller, in which only in the finale was a reference to the original made. The third part of "The Cloverfield Paradox" was generally filmed in the genre of science fiction, and the picture was released not in cinemas, but immediately on Netflix.
Quite frankly, this is the weakest film in the franchise. As conceived by Abrams, "The Cloverfield Paradox" was supposed to connect all the pictures in the series, but the problem is that the script is sewn to the main universe with white threads. However, the situation is saved a little by strong actors and several very effective scenes.
3. Europe

A team of astronauts is sent on a mission: they need to find and confirm the existence of extraterrestrial life on Europa, the moon of Jupiter. But due to a solar storm, the crew loses communication with the Earth, and the mission turns into a real nightmare.
Director Sebastian Cordero made a rather interesting attempt to shoot a space thriller in the genre of “found film». And this is a great example where the lack of budget is perfectly compensated by the exquisite work of the operator, the vibrant cast and the excellent soundtrack.

4. Satellite

In 1983, Soviet cosmonaut Konstantin Veshnyakov, together with a partner, makes an emergency landing in the middle of the Kazakh steppe. A colleague dies, but the main character manages to survive. But he just can't remember what happened before the accident.
Survivor pilot taken to a secret base. There he begins to study neurophysiologist Tatiana. However, the heroine does not yet know that a mysterious alien parasite has settled inside Veshnyakov.
The film of the domestic director Yegor Abramenko was especially highly appreciated abroad. One of the Sputnik fans even becameTwitter / HIDEO_KOJIMA famous game designer Hideo Kojima.
By the way, at home, the picture was advertised as a Russian response to "Alien". Although there is very little in common between the two films. First, in Sputnik, most of the action takes place not in space, but in a research center.
And secondly, the plot is based on a metaphor of a real problem - feelings of guilt towards loved ones. Alien, on the other hand, is pure science fiction without any hint of social drama.

5. Live

A group of scientists on the ISS examines samples of Martian soil and finds a single-celled organism there. At first, the alien seems harmless and even cute, but it grows quickly, and then begins to attack the astronauts. And the crew has nowhere to run from this monster.
Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick managed to turn the hackneyed formula of "an aggressive alien hunts astronauts" into a rather intense and dynamic movie. This horror looks even more interesting thanks to the game Ryan Reynolds, Rebecca Ferguson, Jake Gyllenhaal and other cool actors.

6. Pandorum

Before trying his hand at space themes, Christian Alvart made a name for himself as a master of thrillers ("Antibodies", "Case No. 39"). The action was not very successful for the director, but the film's strong point was the suspense and maddening atmosphere.
7. Across the horizon

A rescue spacecraft is sent to investigate a long-lost ship that has inexplicably reappeared in the Neptune region. Arriving at the scene, Captain Miller and his crew find an empty starship with one monstrously disfigured corpse. These are far from all the troubles that await them, and there are more and more questions about what is happening with every second.
Paul Anderson's film turned out to be a vivid mix of "Alien", "HellRaiser" and "Solaris". Alas, the audience at the time of the release did not appreciate the picture. Even the cool special effects at that time and the amazing work of the cameraman Adrian Biddle did not help. But these days, this undeservedly forgotten work is worth seeing for everyone who loves fiction.

Ridley Scott's painting not only received cult status and a number of prestigious awards, but also served as the beginning of an entire franchise that includes films, books and computer games. The reason for such popularity is not only in the brilliant script and atmosphere of suspense, but also in the visual world, created on the basis of the surrealistic works of Hans Giger.
