10 useful Far Manager functions

Far Manager - a daily tool of system administrators and computer geeks. But it can be useful for ordinary Windows users who want free and effective tool for managing files and folders. Listed below are some Far functions and hot keys for their call.
1. display modes
Change the width and number of columns on the active interface panel, which displays the files and folders.
- Ctrl + 1 - establish a short playback (three narrow columns).
- Ctrl + 2 - to set the standard viewing mode (the two middle column).

- Ctrl + F8 - sorted by creation date.
- Ctrl + F12 - display the sort menu items.
3. View the size of files and folders
See the size of the selected file or folder using the F3 key. The value displayed in the Size column or at the bottom of the fold - depending on the selected type.
To select one item, press Shift and an arrow up or down on the keyboard. For mass selection, use Shift with left and right arrows.
4. Simultaneous with the elements that are in different folders
Add files and folders from different directories on the "time bar" if you need to work with all of them simultaneously. This will allow you to perform with elements of group operations as if they are in the same directory. However, their actual position will not change.
To open the "time bar", press F11 and select the Temporary Panel. To add files and folders by dragging them on it with the mouse cursor. You can also find the files through a combination Alt + F7 and add the results of the search to the "time bar" by clicking Panel in the search box.
5. You filtering by file type
Filter the list of files by extension, to temporarily hide a panel of superfluous elements. To enable the filter, please use the combination of CTRL + I, in the list that appears, select the extension you want and press the spacebar. Near the selected type, plus file will appear. When press the Enter, files with other extensions will disappear from the current panel. To cancel filtering, again press CTRL + I and clear plus with a space.
6. Browse the list of processes
Scroll through the list of active processes directly in the Far Manager window. To view it, click the drive selection box (ALT + F1 / F2), and press 0.
