How to teach Siri to sound notifications through headphones
Miscellaneous / / October 18, 2021
You don't need to use AirPods to do this.
With the release of new versions of iOS, the voice assistant Siri is regularly learning new tricks. For example, in iOS 15 the assistant learned how to sound incoming notifications in headphones - previously it only worked with messages.
The function is available for both standard and third-party applications, while the user can choose which programs require voice acting and which ones should be ignored. After reading the notification, Siri will listen for a few seconds while waiting for commands so that you don't have to call her again and ask for a response.
Interestingly, if in the beta version it was only possible to voice notifications on AirPods 2nd generation or later, and also in some Beats models, the restrictions were lifted for the public release of iOS 15, so the headphone model does not matter It has.
How to enable voice acting for notifications
To do this, in the iPhone settings, open the section "Siri and Search" → "Announce notifications". Here you need to move the switches next to the items "Announce notifications" and "Announce when connected to headphones" in the active position.
Here you can also configure the notifications from which applications require voice acting. In some cases, you can choose between all notifications and urgent notifications - which the program itself marks as important and requiring immediate attention.
If you want to turn off the sound of notifications through AirPods (this function can be accidentally turned on when first connecting headphones to a smartphone), go to this section and switch the slider to inactive position.
