Netflix Reveals Details Of Squid Game Success
Miscellaneous / / October 18, 2021
The series is addictive: more than 87 million users have watched it in full.
Netflix rarely shares statistics of its projects - as a rule, it discloses data only for the most popular projects 1-2 times a year. But there are also exceptions. For example, last week a post appeared on the service's Twitter account that the Korean TV series Squid Game became the most successful release on the site.
Although according to the data from this post at the time of its publication (27 days from the date of its release), the series was watched by 111 million people, published by Bloomberg report, based on a data breach from a Netflix employee, in the first 23 days since the release, at least 132 million users watched at least 2 minutes of the series.
About 89% of them watched more than 75 minutes (that is, at least finished the first episode and started the second), and 66% - or 87 million users - watched it to the end. In total, during this time, the views of the "Squid Game" amounted to 1.4 billion hours.
The report also reveals that the series cost Netflix $ 21.4 million, while the company estimates the company's expected profit at $ 891 million.
The employee who disclosed the Bloomberg statistics later admitted the data theft and was fired from the company.
