Google released Android 12. Pixel smartphones will be the first to be able to update
Miscellaneous / / October 05, 2021
Google announced about the release of Android 12 for AOSP (Android Open Source Project). This is a stable build of the latest open source system. It is primarily intended for smartphone developers and manufacturers who need to adapt their skins.
Usually, Google starts updating Pixel devices at the same time as this release, but this time the processes were separated. Branded smartphones will start receiving Android 12 only "in the coming weeks." Developers need a little more time to finalize the unique features of smartphones.
The company also noted that during preliminary testing, the system was tested by 225,000 people, who sent more than 50,000 reports of problems and bugs. All this helped to polish the OS and release the most reliable and stable assembly.
Let's recall the main changes in Android 12:
- New visual style of Material You interface, which is a development of Material Design.
- Updated widgets with rounded corners and new dimensions.
- An all-new chatting widget with your favorite contacts that lets you jump straight into a conversation.
- New more convenient and informative notifications in the curtain.
- A new privacy panel in the settings, which shows all the data about the access of applications to the resources of the smartphone.
- New indicators of program access to the camera and microphone - they will be displayed in the status bar.
- A performance dashboard for gamers to enable profiles with a focus on autonomy or highest frame rates.
- New one-handed smartphone control mode.
- Lots of new animation effects.
Google developers will tell you more about all the improvements in the final build of the Android 12 system at the Android Dev Summit, which will take place on October 27-28.
